Kathleen Inama Staats

I graduated from U of A in '73, got married and tutored at Arrowhead my first year out of college. I taught 1st then 3rd grade for Mr. Mounts at Indian Springs then 3rd at Fort Island for Mr. Nofsinger. It was strange to see teachers we had in school become peers when attending teachers' day meeting the first day of the school year! I stopped teaching when I had my first child, Stacy in 1978. Started teaching again in '87 at Revere. I felt like such a traitor but really like it there. Am still teaching 3rd grade. I take Spanish so one day I can be fluent. Love the culture and Latin dancing.

I have only wonderful memories about CHS because of the teacher's and all of you. I loved being in the plays and choir with Mr. Unger. Cheerleading was so much fun because we had such great school spirit. Remember Stomp Fight and the sound of everyone's feet on the bleachers? The dances after the games were awesome, weren't they?
Remember Chippewa Lake? I'll never forget how afraid I was to go on roller coasters but decided I was grown up enough to try again because I was in high school. It was fear every step of the way as I got closer to the end of the line and had to get into the car. Judy Tyner was the brave soul to go with me and I absolutely freaked out down the first hill, buried my head on her shoulder, and I BIT HER on the way down!!!! I left teeth marks on her shoulder and she had to get a tetanus shot!! So sorry Judy!!! I saw Judy a few years ago and she didn't remember it!! I can't believe she would ever forget! I sure haven't.
I have the best memories of hanging out with such good friends. Can you believe all the time we spent cruising Skyway? We are very fortunate to have spent such great years together at good ole Copley High. I hope the years since have blessed you with health and happiness. Hope to see you at the reunion.
